“The project was both educational and fun”

The department of Biomedical science, Malmö University, Malmö – Sweden – hosted the high school student Dalya Abou Alhaija for an internship, giving her the opportunity to perform her high school project and supervision as a part of the REVERT project.

Dalya describe her part of the project like this:

“I was involved in different methods such as cell culture of a number of colorectal cancer cell lines, RNA preparation, cDNA synthesis, Q-PCR and gel electrophoresis. I learned a lot from the project which gave me many new skills. I also had to do a lot myself and use new tools in the laboratory. The project was both educational and fun.

Dalyas teacher Dr. Francesca Lanza, Thoren Innovation Gymnasium, Helsingborg, Sweden, says:

“It is my pleasure to report that Prof. Anette Gjörloff Wingren and Dr. Zahra El-Schich have welcomed my student Dalya Abou Alhaija in their research group on biomedical sciences at the University of Malmö and have given her the excellent opportunity of performing her final high school project under their supervision. Dalya was also really surprised by the fact that the REVERT team at Malmö University were always willing to supervise and support her and could help her to quickly learn the different cell culture and imaging techniques”.

“They constantly provided the student with explanations, assistance and literature material and made her feel part of their team.”
